The friends and family of Erica Simpson want to thank you for visiting this site in support of her long-time career as a championship pilot and aviation advocate. On Saturday, September 6th 2008, Erica was killed when the Formula One race plane she was flying had a catastrophic structural failure in preparation for the National Air Races in Reno.

We are comforted in that fact that she passed-away while doing what she loved and that she is in a much better place where her new wings will never fail. For anyone who knew Erica I'm sure you were aware of her passion for flying, especially for aerobatics and racing.  Though Erica has left this earth for more brilliant skies aloft, her legacy shall live on through each and every person she touched.

Erica’s funeral will be held on Saturday September 13th 2008 in her hometown of Port Wing, Wisconsin.  Public viewing will start at 8:00 AM Central Time followed by the funeral service starting at 11:00 AM.  Services will be held at South Shore District Jr. Sr. High School, 9135 School Road, Port Wing, WI 54865

As many of you know, one of Erica’s greatest ambitions was to inspire others to fly and to follow their dreams. And so in lieu of flowers, her family has set-up a memorial scholarship in her name. We ask that you please continue her legacy by educating and exciting others to follow their dreams, take flight, and live life to its fullest potential. This would have made Erica the happiest and doing so would give her great honor.

In closing, we wish to thank the countless people who have offered-up their assistance and payers during this very difficult time. We shall never forget Erica’s boundless energy and ever-present smile and we hope that a part of Erica will live on through everyone she met. Onward and Upward, Erica. We shall miss you.
